“I create mixed media illustrative pieces that resonate with the feeling of tenderness, vulnerability and the need to be loved”

– Dawn Ford

Meet Dawn

My name is Dawn Ford and I graduated with a degree in Design Crafts back in 1999. Today I work from my studio at home where I spend as much time as I can drawing and sewing.  I love the immediacy of both skills and the way in which a delicate line drawing and simple running stitch can capture both the ‘moment’ and the ‘tenderness’ that I seek to achieve.

Coutellerie Un – Pen, Stitch & Panels

I have for many years now drawn and stitched the world as I see it: snippets of moments, soaking up the ambience, the food, the drink, the people around me -  things they say, clothes they wear, lyrics of a song that is playing. But with this new body of work I have...

Coutellerie Deux – Paint, Pen & Stitch

This is a close up of Coutellerie Deux, my first attempt at painting on cotton and then stretching over a canvas. Drawing directly onto the painted surface felt amazing and I think I am addicted!  The pen sketch is of a Frenchman who was sat quietly across from me in...
