This is my ‘friend buddy’. I made her as an example of what a ‘friend buddy’ could look like. I explained to the children that the fabrics I chose represented good, positive or funny memories of my dear friend who died some years ago. My dear friend loved colour, pattern and fashion in general. She was never dull and always an inspiration.
This is my second project in a school as an art bereavement support worker . I asked to work with a group of children who were struggling with the death of a school friend. The design ideas and final buddies were wonderful . These were emotional sessions where the children were invited to talk through the activities and encouraged to share their feelings and memories too.
